The Growing Ductless program is all about helping contractors be successful with the sales, installation and servicing of ductless heating and cooling systems. For most homeowners, this technology is new. Therefore, to be successful, contractors need to use new techniques to: generate leads, design and sell installations, perform installations profitably and to educate and support customers on using these products.
Growing Ductless offer contractors a few different ways to participate:
Ductless News is a free service all contractors can enroll in. Participants will receive regular emails containing links to videos plus tips and best practices on how you can be successful. Participants will also find out about new products and programs from the ductless manufacturers we collaborate with.
Membership in Growing Ductless is easy. For a low monthly fee, members have access to an experienced ductless contractor who has built a successful ductless contracting business. Don’t go it alone. Don’t make easily preventable mistakes. Instead, learn from the mistakes we’ve already made and use us as a sounding board.
"A Heat Pump Store in a Box" is an "off the shelf" way to jump-start a ductless heat pump contracting business. All the items offered in "the box" have been developed and used by a successful ductless heat pump sales and installation business that has been around since 2007. It includes marketing materials, training slide decks, pricing systems, operational models, videos, and more.
Training Classes give you a strong foundation. Growing Ductless has a suite of training classes for owners, salespeople and installers. Typically we offer these classes through a distributor of one of the ductless brands we work closely with. Upon request, we deliver classes for members directly.
Heat Pump Nation is a new product for Mainstream Innovations. It was created in partnership with Franklin Energy as a part of their delivery of the Comfortable Home Rebates program of Pacific Gas & Electric.
Heat Pump Nation promotes heat pumps to contractors and their customers, and provides utility programs and manufacturers a way to collaborate on content development.
Videos are the primary means of communication. The videos can be found on either YouTube or within a utility program or manufacturers learning management system (LMS).
The format for Heat Pump Nation involves a utility program hiring Mainstream Innovations to produce content on their behalf. Mainstream innovations works with manufacturers and local distributors to create sponsorships and identify ways to participate in the content. Once the content has been creates, the utility program extends the content to trade ally contractors using the method of their choosing.
At Mainstream Innovations, we help our clients successfully engage with contractors and their heat pump supply chains. Our clients include utility programs, and heat pump manufacturers and distributors.
For utility programs, our work has included production of content to help them engage with their rate payers, such as videos and print materials. Our work with utilities has also included outreach with the HVAC supply chain to create partnerships and offer simple ways that the HVAC supply chain can benefit from a relationship with a utility. Typically this involves the creation of training programs that distributors and manufacturers can make use of and offer to their customers.
For manufacturers and distributors, our work has been more varied. In some cases, we have produced content for them to use to promote heat pumps to contractors. In other cases, we have produced content that they offer to contractors to help contractors sell heat pumps more effectively in homes. We have also helped distributors by providing training and seminars on heat pumps, to supplement the training they offer. This includes creating seminars on business development, marketing and sales of heat pumps.
